Pickleball (Open Play)
Once you’ve played it, the attraction of pickleball—for seniors, especially—is clear. It’s fast-paced, low-impact, and familiar; anyone who’s played a racquet sport before can quickly get the hang of it. Because the court is small (it can fit into half or even a third of a tennis court), and doubles games are standard, players run a lot less than they would in tennis. Pickleball combines elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis and is easy to learn! We provide open play and advanced level court times at the Aspirus Branch Gym. Please check gym schedules for times. Call Stephanie at 715-841-1854 for court information.
Racquetball emphasizes fun, skill development, sportsmanship, and teamwork in a positive environment. Both our branches feature multiple courts available for play or reservation for Y members. Non-members can purchase a day pass to use courts.
Courts can be reserved for racquetball, paddleball and handball. Members can only reserve one advance court time and one same day court time. Showing up later than 10 minutes to a reservation can result in forfeiture of court reservation. Please call to cancel if not able to make reservation time. Groups are not to exceed a 2-hour reservation.
Racquetball racquets may be rented for $2.00 at the Member Service Center. Protective eyewear is strongly recommended and may be purchased at sports equipment stores. Loaner eyewear is available at the Member Service Center.
RACQUETBALL LEAGUES (Members only) All skills levels – challenge and meet new people. Beginners welcome! Men and women’s beginners, intermediate and advanced. Players referee and arrange their own matches.
