Job Title: Group Exercise Instructor – The Landing

POSITION SUMMARY:

Our Group Exercise Instructors lead our group fitness classes designed for those 55+ and inspire our members to achieve their fitness goals. As a Group Exercise Instructor, you will design and deliver engaging, safe, and effective group fitness classes tailored to various fitness levels and interests. You will provide exceptional customer service, fostering a positive and supportive atmosphere for participants while promoting health and wellness within our community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Plan and lead group exercise classes in accordance with the facility's guidelines and safety standards.
• Develop and implement innovative and challenging workout routines to keep participants engaged and motivated.
• Provide proper warm-up, cool-down, and stretching techniques to prevent injury and promote flexibility.
• Offer modifications and variations of exercises to accommodate participants with different fitness levels, abilities, and injuries.
• Demonstrate proper form and technique throughout the class and provide hands-on corrections when necessary.
• Maintain a clean and organized fitness studio, ensuring equipment is properly set up and stored.
• Greet participants as they arrive and create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all attendees.
• Stay current with industry trends, attending workshops, seminars, and continuing education courses to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Assist in promoting group exercise programs and special events to increase participation and membership.
• Respond to participant feedback and inquiries professionally and promptly, addressing any concerns or suggestions.
• Collaborate with other fitness staff and management to coordinate class schedules and ensure a cohesive fitness program.
• Uphold company policies and procedures, including attendance, punctuality, and dress code requirements.
• Maintain current CPR/AED and group exercise certifications, renewing as necessary to meet industry standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Certification from a nationally recognized organization such as ACE, ACSM, NASM, or AFAA or SilverSneakers
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire participants of all ages and fitness levels.
• A dynamic and motivated individual with excellent communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal that has the ability to effectively lead a group.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and exercise science principles to ensure safe and effective workouts.
• CPR/AED certification required; First Aid certification preferred. (This can be obtained through classes at our Y)
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on class schedule and facility needs.
