At Day Camp Sturtevant, kids spend their days exploring the outdoors, making new friends, and discovering new skills—one adventure at a time.

Whether it’s for a week or the whole summer, Camp Sturtevant is a screen-free zone full of excitement, creativity, and outdoor fun!

Camp Options by Age:

  • Day Camp: Ages 5–12
  • Explorer Camp: Ages 10–14
  • Leadership Camp: Ages 13–15

Curbside Drop Off

Pre-Care: Campers can be dropped off as early as 6:30 AM

Camp Activites

9:00 AM - 3:30 PM
No Curbside Drop Off or Pick Up
During this time you will need to park & walk
to a Camp Staff Member.

Curbside Pick Up

3:30 - 6:00 PM
Post-Care: Camper’s have free play time.

6:00 PM  Camp Closes
Campers must be picked up no later than 6 p.m.

At Camp Sturtevant we believe the framework of our youth is creating experiences that build character, confidence and friendship. 

Day Camp Sturtevant

Ages 5-12

Join us for a week or an entire summer at Day Camp Sturtevant! Camp is located off Northwestern Avenue on the Eau Claire River.

During each week campers will have the opportunity to experience the outdoors Camp Sturtevant style. Day Camp is offered during the entire summer break.

Counselors are college age adults who have been selected and trained with special care in the areas of safety, child development, creativity and understanding of children. Camp Sturtevant staff act as positive adult role models for their campers.

Our river swimming area is a shallow section of water that is a comfortable space for all swimmers. Certified lifeguards are always on duty during swimming and boating activities.

EXPLORERS CAMP Ages 10-14

Explorers Camp will be a summer of adventure, learning, day trips and fun!

This summer our Explorers Program will be offering 7 weeks of unique activites for our Campers Ages 10-14.

Our Explorers will take day trips around the Wausau area, go swimming at local aquatic centers, visit parks and more!

Thursday night sleep over at Camp Sturtevant: It’s a great introduction to the overnight camp experience in a familiar setting on-site at Camp Sturtevant. Campers will have dinner, play night games and have a campfire. Campers will sleep at Camp and have access to showers and running water.

Thursday night late pick-up at 8:30 pm at Camp: Giving the campers time to enjoy dinner, play night games and have a campfire.

LEADERSHIP CAMP Ages 13-15

Let’s go on an adventure!

This summer we will be offering 2 Leadership Camping trips. Each Camp will offer a week-long experience built around a Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday overnight camping experience.

Each Leadership Week will give campers the opportunity to fish, canoe, kayak, swim, learn survival and leadership skills while forging new friendships that will last a lifetime.

Designed for campers ages 13-15, Leadership Camp is a natural extension of the Camp Sturtevant experience, recognizing the need for more adventure and more challenge. Camp provides breakfast, lunch and snacks every day and dinner on overnights.

Social Emotional Learning

Over the course of the summer our campers will grow socially and emotionally. They will build skills through empathy, relationship building, emotion management, responsibility, and personal development, all while having FUN!

Emotional Management: Learn to be aware of and constructively handle both positive and challenging emotions.

Responsibility: Learn to be reliable, committed and fulfill obligations in challenging roles.

Personal Development: Initiate goals, learn persistence and persevere through difficult situations and challenges.

Relationship Building: Plan, collaborate and coordinate action with others.

Empathy: Learn to relate to others with acceptance, understanding, and sensitivity.

Kit Kronberger
Camp Director

Kit graduated from Beloit College in May of 2025 with a bachelor’s degree in Education and Youth Studies as well as History.  She began her career at the Woodson YMCA in the summer of 2022 as a Counselor and Trip Coordinator and now has become the Camp and Program Director.
Kit prides herself in fostering a welcoming space for youth development through outdoor experience and education. She believes that strong camp programming can lead to growth in confidence, responsibility, and leadership qualities. Overall, Kit encourages children to fully engage with the camp environment which allows them to excel both personally and in a team environment.
