Gymnastics classes and camps are held at the Wausau Branch

The Woodson YMCA Gymnastics Program has something for youth of all ages.
Classes start as early as 18 months and continue through high school.

Preschool Classes

  • Preschool classes will need one parent or adult to aid the gymnast during class.
  • Preschool classes will be held in the Jr. Gymnastics Training Center located in the lower level of the Wausau Branch.

Gymnecricket

  • Ages 18 Months to 3 Years

Kinder Gymnastics - Kinder 1, Kinder 2 and Kinder 3

  • Ages 3 Years to 5 Years
  • Parent and Child Class
  • Each Kinder class builds on the previous class. Parent/adult must aid in all Kinder classes.
  • Successful completion of Kinder 1 & 2 is required or previous experience is required for Kinder 3.

School Age Gymnastics

Gymtricks 

  • Ages 5 Years and up | Co-ed
  • A class for children ages 5 and older who have never taken gymnastics classes before or has very limited experience.

Junior Olympics 1, 2 and 3

  • Gymnasts will learn appropriate Junior Olympic skills or levels 1,2 and 3 in gymnastics on all 4 pieces of equipment.
  • All classes will be held in the Gymnastic Center at the Wausau Branch.

Whirlers Gymnastics Team

  • Our Whirlers include competitive gymnastics Levels from 2 - 10.
  • All classes will be held in the Gymnastic Center at the Wausau Branch.
  • Participants are invited to be on a team through our progressive gymnastics classes or by individual tryout.

What to wear:

  • Gymnasts do not need a gymnastics leotard – however – it is recommended. 
  • No skirt type dance leotards since the skirt will wrap around the bar and tear.
  • Gymnasts can wear capris leggings and a t-shirt that can tuck into pants so it will not cover the face when handstands are worked on.  
  • No jeans or pants with metal snaps. 
  • No bare midriffs allowed.  
  • Long hair should be tied back
  • No jewelry

Gymnastics General Information

  • All Gymnastics classes and camps are held at the Wausau Branch.
  • The YMCA reserves the right to cancel or combine classes due to low enrollment.
  • Scholarships are available for those who qualify. 
  • Gymnastics placement is based on ability and maturity rather than age.
  • Age is used as a guideline.
  • Refunds/Credits will not be issued because of inclement weather or personal schedule conflicts.
  • There is a 15 minute transition/sanitizing between classes.
  • Gymnasts/Parents will sanitize upon entering gymnastics centers.
  • During Pre-school classes gymnast must stay with parent/adult throughout class to help maintain distancing.
