Child care Mini Care- Assist our staff by engaging with children in our drop-in child care facilities.
Community Garden Would you like to serve our community while enjoying the outdoors? We are seeking a “lead” volunteer to assist with volunteer management and grow the Y’s mission during the Woodson YMCA Community Garden growing season. Wellness Group exercise positions and cleaning duties.
Cleaning (Wausau YMCA- North Gym): We are looking for some help in keeping our Gymnastics Center clean. Training would be provided. Looking for someone to clean mirrors, windows, mats and vaccum the carpet. The work would take about 3 hours per week, flexible times. Last volunteer also assisted in teaching the child care gymnastics but that is not required. (Classes are on Monday and Thursday mornings – 9:15 – 1:00 pm) If interested, please contact Cheryl A. Cleaning (Aspirus YMCA): Are you retired and have a little extra time on your hands? Maybe team up with a friend or spouse for a couple of hours each week helping to keep our Y looking great. Volunteers would work on Sundays in the Aspirus YMCA Wellness Center sanitizing exercise equipment, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping and damp mopping. Duties are light housekeeping type work, no heavy lifting required. Training will be provided. YMCA membership provided. Perform spring prep work for summer camps.
Junior Counselor (YMCA Camp Sturtevant): Looking for a summer volunteer opportunity? Join our large team of Junior Counselors ranging in ages from 14- 18 years old. We are seeking individuals with positive energy and leadership skills who enjoy children and support the YMCA Camp mission. An appreciation for the outdoors is a necessity! Junior Counselors will lead activity areas and aid Senior Counselors as needed. Junior Staff are required to commit to at least 5 weeks during the summer. Shifts are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. most days.
Father Daughter Dance (Feb. 11, 2017)- Assist with obtaining donations, planning ,event set-up, event stations and clean-up at Wausau Branch.
Healthy Kids Day (Sat. April 29, 2017)- Assist with Aspirus Branch open house.
Thrivent/Woodson YMCA Community Garden (May- Sept. 2017)- Assist with planting and maintenance work in our Community Garden outside of Aspirus Branch. Call Michelle at 715-845-2177, ext. 160
