Winter Recess Project
Many children lack the essential winter gear they need to play outside during recess.
Without it, those children have to stay inside.
Let's ensure that every child can experience the joy of recess and outdoor play in winter.
You can make a difference:
- Pick a child’s card.
- Sign the card out at the front desk.
- Purchase the listed items needed.
- Bring items to the Y with the card.
Your donation will help a child in need in the Wausau School District or at our Woodson YMCA Child Care Centers.
Bring items to the Y in a timely manner. We will take care of delivery. Please do not take items to the school.
Waterproof mittens and gloves only. The thin stretchy gloves do not keep the kid's hand warm and dry. Thank you.
As of Wednesday, December 13th we have delivered:
- 53 Boots
- 81 Gloves (plus 20 without tags)
- 28 Snow Pants
- 42 Jackets
If you have a card for a child please bring the item into the Y, we would like to have everything delivered before Christmas break.
- We have 35 Out of the Y we are waiting on to be return.
