Garden History:

The Woodson YMCA Community Garden began as  ½ acre property along Camp Phillips Road, owned by Tony Schillinger.  He generously agreed to allow the Y to install a vegetable garden for community use.  After creating raised beds, a drip irrigation system was installed.  A large portion of start-up costs for installation were provided by Thrivent Financial.  The Woodson YMCA believes strongly in being a place where families can grow stronger together in spirit, mind and body. What better place to begin a community garden to support local families’ nutritional needs with healthy and delicious seasonal vegetables?

The first planting day was June 3, 2014.
