The Woodson YMCA Community Garden helps to support local families’ nutritional needs with healthy and delicious seasonal vegetables, harvested entirely by volunteers.
Volunteer work in the garden will be needed through September. Join us one time or multiple times. Individuals or groups invited to help prepare beds, plant, weed, prune and harvest fresh produce.
Special Thanks to our Garden sponsors for 2019:
The Woodson YMCA Community Garden began as ½ acre property along Camp Phillips Road, owned by Tony Schillinger. He generously agreed to allow the Y to install a vegetable garden for community use. After creating raised beds, a drip irrigation system was installed. A large portion of start-up costs for installation were provided by Thrivent Financial. The Woodson YMCA believes strongly in being a place where families can grow stronger together in spirit, mind and body. What better place to begin a community garden to support local families’ nutritional needs with healthy and delicious seasonal vegetables?
The first planting day was June 3, 2014.
