Explorers will Hike, Have Theme-Related Activities, Do Experiments, Play Games and Make Crafts

Animal Babies

July 12th & 14th    Ages 5-9 
Tuesday & Thursday 9:30am - 12:30am

• Learn about baby insects, tadpoles & birds
• Hike & look for animal babies
• Play games and make crafts

In the Woods: Who’s Been Here? 

July 19th & 21st     Ages 7-10

• Learn how to read the forest
• Find animal tracks & feeding evidence
• Hike & look for animal dens & tracks

Insects, Bugs & Other Ughs!!

July 26th & 28th  Ages 5-9
Tuesday & Thursday 9:30am - 12:30am 

• Explore for insects, bugs & spiders
• Dig in the dirt to see what we find
• Learn why some are “true bugs” 
   & some are not

Wilderness Survival 

August 2nd & 4th     Ages 9-12

• Act out a wilderness survival scenario
• Learn shelter building & fire building
• Hike to finding water & food

The Very Best Bed

August 9th & 11th     Ages 5-9

• Find out about animal homes in a story 
• Discover animal homes outside

Nature Games

August 16th & 18th    Ages 5-9

• Play nature games outside
• Play predator/prey style games

Explorers will engage in an array of outdoor exploration on the Y property, with the goal of exploring nature and having fun! The kids will be outside for the majority of the time. Explorers is offered to students of various ages depending on the theme, gathering for 3 hours each day.

Class Instructor: Stephanie Feuerstein is an environmental educator with over 20 years of experience. She primarily works with pre-school and elementary level students, but she has shared her love of nature and the outdoors with people of all ages. Her programs are dynamic and diverse, consisting of hands-on, interactive activities that allow the participants to learn through fun and engaging experiences. Be prepared to go off trail and get down and dirty with Stephanie as she leads you and your children through all kinds of explorations in nature.
