DIABETES MANAGEMENT PROGRAM (New for Fall 2016)

The YMCA wants to impact the lives of those affected by diabetes. We know that healthy eating and physical activity have been proven to reduce
the risks associated with type 2 diabetes. We are looking for people committed to better health to enroll in our Diabetes Management Program at the Woodson YMCA. The new program has already helped local people gain some control over the disease and live better. We provide a 12-week program, meeting twice a week with an emphasis on exercise and nutrition. Participants will learn strategies for eating healthier foods, increasing physical activity and making other changes that will improve overall health and well-being. Participants will utilize strength equipment and take group exercise classes. The program includes a food shopping nutrition education field trip. Class is limited to first 12 participants.

MASSAGE THERAPY

Our staff of therapists (Wausau Branch only) offer sessions in Swedish massage, deep tissue and sports therapy, neuro muscular/muscular release technique and hot stone massage. You will benefit from relaxation stress reduction and specialized therapy for repetitive use or sports-related muscular pain.  Schedule an appointment through our business desk at 715-845-2177. MICROFIT FITNESS EVALUATION

The Microfit Evaluation includes blood pressure and heart rate readings, height and weight, Body Mass Index, body composition, cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, and a detailed computer printout of results.  This vital information is for everyone of all stages of fitness and all different ages from 5 to 90.

BODY COMP AND BMI ASSESSMENT

Learn your body composition and BMI by having these tests performed by a certified fitness specialist.

NUTRITIONAL  COUNSELING

Personalized one-on-one nutrition counseling with our dietician on staff. Dana Macalalad can help you reach your goals whether you are trying to lose weight or enhance your athletic performance. In a 1-hour session, you will receive in-depth nutrient analysis of your current diet, structured meal plan based on your nutritional needs and detailed evidence-based nutrition instruction.  LIVESTRONG AT THE YMCA

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a FREE 12-week small group program designed for adult cancer survivors who have recently become de-conditioned or chronically fatigued from their treatment and/or disease. The goal is to help patients build muscle mass and strength, increase flexibility and endurance, and improve functional ability. Additional goals include reducing the severity of therapy side effects, preventing unwanted weight changes and improving energy levels and self-esteem. A final goal of the program is to assist participants in developing their own physical fitness program so they can continue to practice a healthy lifestyle as a way of life.
