The YMCA believes that its programs and services should be accessible to everyone. Anyone who would like to belong to the YMCA or be a part of its programs and services, but cannot afford the full cost may apply for financial assistance.
Financial Assistance is available for membership and all the programs and services. Each year, over $100,000 is provided to scholarship YMCA youth programs such as summer day camp, youth sports, gymnastics, aquatics, and preschool classes.
The application process is confidential, and once accepted, the assisted person has privileges of the membership or program in which he/she enrolls. If you or someone you know could benefit from financial assistance, please read the steps listed.

Q: Who can get financial assistance?
Youth referred by schools, churches and other community organizations.
Adults who are temporarily out of work (and their families).
Adults on a low income.
Families on a low income.
Seniors on a fixed income.
Q: To which programs will I have access?
The YMCA will award financial assistance to anyone who can benefit from a membership or a particular program. The only thing we ask is that you use the services once you obtain financial assistance.
Q: How much assistance will the YMCA provide?
This depends on the extent of need and the programs offered. We have a sliding scale that takes income and family size into account. We use this sliding scale to award assistance so as many people as possible can benefit from YMCA programs.
Contact the Woodson YMCA of Wausau at 845-2177, we will connect you with the appropriate staff person. The staff person will provide you with an application form.
Set up an appointment with the YMCA Director.
Provide verification of current income (such as W-2 form and copy of your tax return) and family size so the YMCA can determine the amount of assistance available to you in a fair manner.
Q: Who will see this information?
Your application is considered confidential and will be seen only by the program director of the specific activity.
Q: How long will I have assistance?
We award assistance for a specific time period. When that time is up, you can ask for an extension if you still need help.
These assisted memberships and program fees are funded by individual and corporate gifts to the YMCA.
